Bruce, You should watch the documentary "Farewell Israel" by Joel Gilbert. I have recommended that doc here many times, but never got any takers who said they watched it. Nikki, I have not seen the documentary but here’s a link for the trailer www.farewellisrael.com/

Bruce,
You have probably found it by now; but, yes, Netflix has it. That is where I found it.

So, if Israel is doomed, as the title of this movie implies, shouldn't America be making damn sure we are not dragged down with it?

Nikki, I think I saw the documentary.
Bruce, et al, it is important to remember that there were Jews in the region long before there ever was a single muslim. Islam is a much younger religion than Judaism.
The land was also mostly populated by nomadic arabic tribes, none of which ever called any particular piece of sand as their own until some time later.
Some may also recall that the Romans started the "real" messing up of the borders.

Zionism and Judaism do not always fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Many Jews are not Zionists. There are a number of Jewish intellecuals who don't think Israel will be around in 30 or 50 years. I realize that the middle east is the traditional homeland of the Jews, but many feel it's location amid hostile Muslim countries was a poor choice hor a Jewish state. But I guess my opinion doesn't matter much since I'm just "fodder". Bruce it was meant in FONDNESS of FODDER so don't be a party poop, we love ya!

IMO Judaism is religion and Zionism Political and I don't particularly have a problem with either. Nor did the rest of the world until Islam. When in Rome do as the Romans do, go to the Vatican.

... Yes, but, Zionists did kill Americans in Cairo prior to 1948 and fired on a US warship. Speaking of Zionists, Golda Meier suggested a trade with Ronald Reagan. She wanted to trade generals. She offered to give us General Mozhe Dayan in trade for General Motors. We'd have both been screwed. ;D

I actually brought up the earlier incidents because they occurred during Dem'crat Whitehouses I'll never forgive Roosevelt for doing what he did and for dying when he did. BTW, where is Lee Iacoca?

Not exactly, he has enjoyed an array of benefits from Chrysler as a retired corporate leader. Under the current situation he has lost those benefits. I believe he is one of many famous people who is having difficulty in selling his house as well! From wiki: Loss of Chrysler pension and company carIacocca, who saved Chrysler from bankruptcy during the early 1980s, stands to lose his pension from a supplemental executive retirement plan and a guaranteed company car provided by Chrysler for his use during his lifetime because of the Chrysler bankruptcy. The loss of the pension and company car is to take place once the bankruptcy court approves the sale of Chrysler to Fiat SpA, with ownership of the new company by Fiat, the United Auto Workers, and the governments of the United States and Canada

Israel as it now exists has been in existence for about 60 years. Many experts say that it was a mistake to locate it in a hostile area. Whether the Jews were there first is not relevant to today's situation; they are like an island in a sea, The future will most likely be tragic. Unfortunately, tragedy is a part of Jewish history.

Bruce, I can recall reading statements from people saying the same thing- that Israel chose a bad location to call home. I can also remember reading that had not the Jews been in the area for so long that efficient farming would never have progressed, education of the arab population would be about nonexistent and the locals would have continued their dismal existence as it was for thousands of years.
Apparently Russian and various European Jews brought many changes to the region, too. I can't remember specifics.
I think that, in spite of the fact that Israel represents the only democracy in the region and are our close ally, you may be right. They may be doomed to the trash heap of history.
I sincerely hope not.
