So Fearless Leader has Covid. Since he has the best medical care possible it shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure lots of people are asking the same question: Did he give it to Biden when he was spewing all that hot air at the debate? What would happen if frail Biden dropped dead? Would Kamala automatically be the nominee for President?

www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/06/upshot/suburbs-shifted-left-president.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=Homepage"Suburban counties across the country turned away from President Trump in this election. That includes suburbs in the Midwest and the Sun Belt, in inner-ring counties and those farther out, in predominantly white communities and more diverse ones. Suburban counties that were already Democratic-leaning before 2020 tilted more so. And many that were deeply Republican nudged several points away from the president. This graphic shows how these counties voted in preliminary results this year, compared with 2016. Collectively, they shifted up — toward Joe Biden. That movement, apparent across battleground states, has been crucial to his chances of winning the presidency." "The suburban pattern follows a trend from the 2018 midterm election, when voters in increasingly diverse and highly educated suburbs swept many Republican members of Congress out of office. Mr. Trump made a strong effort this year to win back some of the suburban voters his party had lost, especially women, by campaigning on promises to protect their communities from rising crime and falling property values. That message may have been cheered by Mr. Trump’s base. And Republicans won back some swing districts in the House. But for the president, the suburban overtures appear to have fallen short." So "law and order", usually a winner in the 'burbs, failed this time. Trump's gains with minorities wasn't enough. Macho worked good on them but not suburban women, I suspect.

It's good to be able to say goodbye to the tweeter-in-chief, but it's even better to say goodbye to some of his nefarious cohorts, such as Steven Miller, Mike Pompeo, and Peter Navarro. And Jared Kushner.

So much for Trump being the new Reagan.

www.nytimes.com/2020/11/16/climate/trump-oil-drilling-alaska.html?action=click&module=News&pgtype=Homepage"The Trump administration on Monday announced that it would begin the formal process of selling leases to oil companies in a last-minute push to achieve its long-sought goal of allowing oil and gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. That sets up a potential sale of leases just before Jan. 20, Inauguration Day, leaving the new administration of Joseph R. Biden Jr., who has opposed drilling in the refuge, to try to reverse them after the fact. “This lease sale is one more box the Trump administration is trying to check off for its oil industry allies,” said Adam Kolton, executive director of the Alaska Wilderness League, in a statement. “But it is disappointing that this administration until the very end has maintained such low regard for America’s public lands, or the wildlife and Indigenous communities that depend on them.” I wonder if Trump can tell caribou from polar bears?

www.nytimes.com/2020/12/02/us/politics/trump-election-video.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage"WASHINGTON — President Trump on Wednesday released a 46-minute videotaped speech that denounced a “rigged” election and was filled with lies the day after his own attorney general joined election officials across the country in attesting to his defeat. Mr. Trump recorded what he said “may be the most important speech I’ve ever made” in the Diplomatic Room of the White House and delivered it behind a lectern bearing the presidential seal. He then posted a two-minute version on Twitter, with a link to the full version on his Facebook page. The president once again refused to concede defeat in his bid for re-election almost a month after Election Day, repeating a long list of false assertions about voter fraud and accusing Democrats of a conspiracy to steal the presidency." Well, this is now sad how unhinged Donald has become.

I listened to some of Trump's farewell speech, and when he called Covid "The China Flu", I remembered why he was such a dick. Once an ignoramus, always an ignoramus.

Trump may be out of the WH for a month but he is still the object of much attention, including mine. What can I say? Biden is, as predicted, boring.

www.businessinsider.com/susan-rice-burns-sage-in-stephen-millers-old-office-to-stop-negativity-2021-3"Susan Rice, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, occupies the same West Wing office recently used by Stephen Miller, the Trump administration's anti-immigration hardliner, The New York Times reported Saturday. As a prominent Black Democrat often vilified by conservatives, she's aware of the "symbolism" of occupying the space where Miller formulated policies, including the widely reviled child separation policy, and has taken a few steps to redecorate. In the room, a painting from Haiti's Caribbean nation now hangs, and the room is scented with sage candles. Burning sage has been used in indigenous people's rituals for centuries to cleanse a person or space of negativity and promote healing and wisdom." Yes, if I was occupying Steven Miller's office I would definitely want to fumigate.

Trump may be the ex-President but I will continue to take potshots (admittedly ineffective) at the guy until he leaves the world stage (or I do). It's so much fun!

www.nytimes.com/2021/03/18/opinion/anti-asian-american-violence.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage"A year ago this month, after the pandemic had already established a beachhead in the United States, this board wrote that there was a long history of diseases triggering waves of violence — against Jews during the Black Death right through the animus linked to Ebola, SARS and Zika. “Chinese-Americans and other Asians lumped together with them by racists are being beaten, spat on, yelled at and insulted from coast to coast, driving some members of the maligned minority to purchase firearms in the fear of worse to come as the pandemic deepens,” the board wrote. The president then was Donald Trump, who spent his term exploiting anti-immigrant hostility for political gain. He seized every opportunity to cast the pandemic in bigoted terms, portraying China in particular as the villain. Mr. Trump said “China virus” again this week during a Fox News interview on the very night of the Georgia shootings." Notice how the NYT is taking no blame for it's own China-bashing propaganda.

www.nytimes.com/2021/04/02/us/politics/trump-latino-voters-2020.html?action=click&module=In%20Other%20News&pgtype=Homepage"ck Coughlin, a Republican pollster in Arizona, said he was unsurprised by the results of the Equis Labs report, given what he said had been a concerted effort by the Trump campaign to win Latino support. “You saw it in the rallies out here,” he said. “They did a rally down in Yuma. They did a rally at the Honeywell plant out here. All of those featured Hispanic small-business owners. They were working that crowd.” He said the Trump campaign’s messaging on economic and social issues had resonated for many Latino voters, particularly older ones. “They’re pro-business, they’re pro-gun, they don’t like higher taxes, they don’t trust the government,” he said. “It’s the same constituency that you see among Anglo Trump voters.” Considering business owners have usually been 80% Republican, it's not too surprising that Hispanic business owners would drift that way.

I'm following the geography of Trump's post-election rallies, I don't know why. His first was in Greenville, Ohio, and today's is in Sarasota, Florida. Both yellow, I mean red, states. Actually, I may just start using yellow to describe them. Red is too good a color to give to the GOP. Or how about orange as in Trump's skin?
