On the same day that the Night King was killed, I happened to watch the death of Thanos in Endgame. Since then, superhero movies have pretty much become extinct, with nothing to replace them. Except anime.

Well, the Marvel Universe may be back with "Black Widow", but from the looks of it it's more of one of those assassin chicks (geezer term) movie than a superhero movie. No doubt more reel time for Hollywood to show it's love of guns.

A lot of folks are questioning Cmic-Con’s decision to hold its first in-person Con on the Thanksgiving weekend. While I don’t know why they did, as far as I am concerned, as a true geek I couldn’t care less about a holiday as lame as Thanksgiving. And if the Hollywood types would rather visit their relatives and stuff themselves with turkey, so be it.

I guess “Black Widow” bombed. Why they made a movie about one of the least interesting Avenger I don’t know. Or maybe superhero movies have peaked. I certainly have no interest in seeing “Suicide Squad” after seeing the trailer.

Dune has arrived and I fearlessly went to see it. Handicapped by the fact I knew the story so well, it was still pretty impressive, especially the score and visuals. Comparing it to the first Dune made 27 years is like comparing apples and bananas. I love good science fiction. Meanwhile, the new Marvel superhero movie seems to be less than successful. Is the age of superhero movies becoming history?

Yes, I know geek culture is in the decline, but I’m still one. So the most important movie of 2019 was Avengers: Endgame. There was no important movie in 2020, but the most important movie of 2021 was, of course, was Dune.

So I was at Comic-con this weekend. But in the back of my mind was the knowledge it is probably my last. I think I have aged out of that scene. Plus, I have heard about problems behind the curtains involving ethics.

Is geek culture history? Seems to me being a geek became acceptable in the nineties, helped by big money-making cinema. But a series.of bad super-hero movies may have taken the shine out of the geek world. One the other hand, the manga section of my local bookstore has grown huge. And unlike Hollywood, manga and anime seem immune to the anti-woke fanatical misogynists.

At the Con today, probably my last.for various reasons. But seeing all the costumes reminded me how the Con has always been trans-friendly, going way back to Rocky Horror Picture Show. The haters can’t touch us here. And we still love Disney.

The whining misogynist geeks have got their panties all twisted up because the new Silver Surfer may be female. Who cares? Maybe SS was a woman all along. I never saw his dick.

Cruising the YouTubes looking for good movie reviews, came across a reviewer criticizing Disney’s gender choices for superheroes. I might pay attention to this critic (Mike Zehoe), if his cap was not on backwards. That automatically drops your perceived IQ by 30 points.
