In today’s NYT: A puff piece about how NATO air arms work so smoothly together. Certainly nothing to report on Ukraine’s inoffensive offensive. But hey, it’s only begun, and now new western-trained units are moving up, or so they say. By the way, while Western weapons are claimed to be “game-changers” such as Himars and Leopard 2s, as far as I can see the weapon standing out seems to be Russia’s Ka-52 gunship at this point. But Zelensky seems to be changing tactics after a less-than-impressive beginning of his Big Push. Got to keep your Western donors happy to keep the free goodies flowing and hopefully not run out of cannon fodder.

You know the Ukrainians are having trouble when the Neocon press (NYT) has to make excuses for them. Article title: “Why Ukraine’s Counteroffensive is Off to a Halting Start”.

Considering Ukraine’s so far non-offensive offensive, it appears to me that Ukraine’s successful offensive last year happened because Russia was sucker-punched.

From what I’ve heard, Bradley APC’s losses in Ukrainian hands have been high, for whatever reason. Not that it matters, there is probably a vast number of Bradleys the US has yet to hand over to Zelensky (for free), and still a lot of Ukrainian cannon fodder to man them.

I love the way the Western press clutches straws in its war on Russia, clinging to the pipe dream of a NATO victory. After the disappointment of the Wagner mutiny, now they are crowing about a bridge being blown up. Like one bridge will defeat the country that defeated Napoleon and Hitler.

Byline in NYT: “ Ukraine Starts New Diplomatic Push to Weaken Russia”. Their Big Push may have faltered, but the Zelensky regime kicks as at PR. Heck, I support Ukrainian self-determine but I dont think the end justifies these means. But as I’ve said before, pacifism is out of style. Probably the biggest area where Jesus failed.

Byline from NYT: “ On the Front Line, Ukrainian Commanders Are Buoyed to Be on the Offensive”. Gosh, the Ukrainians my be suffering significant losses of personnel for insignificant gains of territory, but as long as commanders are buoyed, it’s all good!

If you want to hear the maximum pro-Ukrainian propaganda, just listen to the Telegraph on YouTube. You can hear the Neocon god Frederick Kagan.

Story from the NYT on the G20 meeting: “Leaders Agree on Aid Agenda, but Soften Stance on Ukraine War”. Looks like world enthusiasm for NATO’s proxy war on Russia may be weakening. Time for another Zelensky PR tour?

Was going through one of my boxes of books and I came across the Time/Life book on Desert Storm written in 1991. Now there was a fun war. I remember Bush I trying to get the American public on board for it. First he said it was about oil, which didn’t impress anyone. Then it was jobs, jobs, jobs, which also failed. Then the proto-Neocons claimed we were saving cute little Kuwait from a ruthless despot (which he was). That worked. Not that Kuwait wasn’t also run by a despot, but no matter. The best part was Desert Storm was ended quickly with lots of cool explosions. Who can forget the heart-warming Highway of Death? And the Neocons have been trying to duplicate Desert Storm ever since. Now we have to save cute little Ukraine (not so little) and cute little Taiwan. The question is: Are the Millennials and Gen Z as big of dupes as the Boomers? Looks that way.

Watched a Telegraph panel discussion on the war. Of course they are all in on keeping the war going. But one panelist said what I believe: Trump can’t be depended on to end our support of Ukraine. A guy with no ideology like Trump could come up anywhere on the war. I believe Trump believes in one thing: Trump.

The Neocon narrative is if you oppose finding the war in Ukraine you are a MAGA nutcase, but for me one of the many reasons to oppose arming Ukraine and enabling a destructive war is the cost to the environment. The Democrats advertise themselves as pro-environment but their actions prove otherwise. More liberal hypocrisy.

From the NYT: “Growing Wariness of Aid to Ukraine Hangs Over Polish Election.” Even the Russia-hating Poles are getting tired of sacrificing for Ukrainian nationalism, and are starting to lean to a Poland First attitude. At the beginning of this war, I thought wealthy Europe (and US) would easily overwhelm relatively poor Russia, but so far that isn’t the case. The Bear is not going away and it will not be ignored.

The Neocon Dream of humiliating Russia is taking a big hit with the carnage in Israel. With Israel ready to rumble in Gaza, how will they get focus back on Ukraine?

Today is the 40th anniversary of Reagan’s glorious invasion of Grenada, where 10,000 American Special Forces supported by AC-130s overwhelmed 500 Cuban construction workers in only 3 days! Who-hoo! USA! USA! Cold War nostalgia for Boomers.
