So the governor of Florida is the new darling of the right. Can he thwart Trump for the 2024 election? Maybe, since at least he isn't older than dirt like Biden or Trump. Time for a Gen X President? I think so, Boomers have worn out their welcome IMHO.

www.nytimes.com/2021/06/21/us/politics/republicans-cities-elections-new-york.html"When Jerry Sanders finished his second term as mayor of San Diego in 2012, he was the most prominent Republican city executive in the country. A former police chief close to the business community, Mr. Sanders appeared to be a political role model for other would-be Republican mayors, a moderate who worked with the Obama administration on urban policy and endorsed gay marriage at a pivotal moment. These days, Mr. Sanders said, Republicans are out of touch with diverse metropolitan areas. He said Republicans appeared to lack “real solutions” to issues like crime, and lamented the party’s exclusionary message that drives off young people, Hispanics and gay voters in cities like his. “I don’t think the right has kept up with the times,’’ Mr. Sanders, 70, said in an interview. He said he renounced his party affiliation on Jan. 7, the day after the mob attack on the Capitol.Across the political map this year, Mr. Sanders’s diagnosis of his former party appears indisputable: In off-year elections from Mr. Sanders’s California to New York City and New Jersey and the increasingly blue state of Virginia with its crucial suburbs of Washington, D.C., the Republican Party’s feeble appeal to the country’s big cities and dense suburbs is on vivid display." What? Whining about wokeness doesn't appeal to urbanites?

Of course the right wing mythology is that Democrats are pro-immigrant because they are expecting them to vote Democratic instead of for humanitarian reasons. But you’d have to be an idiot to assume that immigrants, many of them religious, are going to vote Democratic even if they vote at all.

So the GOP has become the anti-vax party. In other words, the stupid party.

Let’s go Brandon? They are even saying that on Newsmax. Such juvenility. Pot calling the kettle black? Possible.

So the Republicans have returned to a simple ideological stand: Socialism sucks, Capitalism rules. Should be advantageous in the short run.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the Republicans are on a roll now through 2022, no doubt. But they will still be the Clown Party, even if the Democrats are big losers. The sand worm will turn again.

I’m wondering: Is that the right’s idea of an ideological argument? Let’s Go Brandon? I guess so.

Here is the title of a column in today’s NYT: “Hawks are standing in the way of a new Republican Party”, taking how the Republicans seem to be split between a pro-war and an anti-war side. Well, as I’ve said elsewhere, at least the Republicans seem to have an anti-war side. So maybe they are evolving, unlike the Democrats. Of course, with a Democratic President older than God, what can we expect?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the GOP will sweep the House and Senate in November, but what will they do with their new power? What is their agenda? Well, since they have been in the pockets of the petroleum industry for decades, a vast increase in oil production to sell to the world, climate change be damned. Continue the border wall building, environmental damage be damned. An ideologically driven takeover of education to promote an Nationalistic viewpoint. An anti-Socialist campaign, yet an attack on Big Tech and “legacy” media. So I think the GOP has found it’s ideological footing again, for what its worth. As for me, i can’t “fight the future” even if I wanted to.

One more Republican who isn’t a Trump toadie is probably getting purged today, Liz Cheney. Reminds me of Stalin’s purges in 1937-38.

So the line coming from the right is that Democrat is synonymous with Communist. Such stupidity may be one of the reasons educated voters are moving away from the Republican Party.

Watched Big D make a pro-law ‘n order rant. As I’ve said before, the GOP solution to all social ills is build more prisons. I wonder if Trump and DeSantis are going to try to outflank each other to the right?

So Florida thug DeSantis has echoed Big Buffoon Trump in advocating the repeal of “birthright citizenship”. I thought the right loved American traditions? I guess only when it suits them.
