Happy Thanksgiving, one and all from around the world. I'll be pretty quiet for the next few days. Count your blessings.

Well, another Celebration of Gluttony has come and gone. I'm shocked we are all not fatter than we are. But using my psychic ability, I was sure that nothing had happened in the 24 hours I was out of touch with the news, and checking this morning I was correct.

www.nytimes.com/2019/11/27/opinion/thanksgiving-history.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=HomepageThe celebration in 1621 did not mark a friendly turning point and did not become an annual event. Relations between the Wampanoag and the settlers deteriorated, leading to the Pequot War. In 1637, in retaliation for the murder of a man the settlers believed the Wampanoags killed, they burned a nearby village, killing as many as 500 men, women, and children. Following the massacre, William Bradford, the Governor of Plymouth, wrote that for “the next 100 years, every Thanksgiving Day ordained by a Governor was in honor of the bloody victory, thanking God that the battle had been won.” Lest we forget what we are celebrating. Oh, I forgot. We are supposed to put a happy face on American history so we won't be "divisive". Sorry, but there is no one more divisive than Trump. Why should he get all the fun?

Well, as Thanksgivings go, this one was fairly painless. I'll hope Christmas is the same.

Happy Turkey Day! The only holiday dedicated to a bird, even if it is just to eat it.

I noticed a couple of columns in the National Review and even one in the NYT defending Thanksgiving as a holiday. It certainly needs it. The old pilgrim and indian myth is wearing pretty thin.
